Morgan Wins Mexico Open

From Rick Zazueta:

Stephen Morgan is the Mexico Croquet Open Champion, and winner of the Fifty Pounds Gin trophy. He won in both singles and doubles alongside his partner Bobby Rivera from Guadalajara, Mexico. The tournament was held at the legendary Hope Harmon Croquet Club in San Miguel de Allende, where Joan Novell and all of the wonderful members hosted us for 5 days and close to 100 games of croquet!

Watching Stephen play a croquet lesson in it of itself. His pace around the court, his stalking, his stance, casting, and that long still follow-through, that sends the ball with conviction anywhere on the court. He runs clean hoops, positions and defends, he’s a great North American player who shares insights of the game, strategy, and an overall vision for the game we love. He played the final against Canadian Jim Wright, who began the game leading but Stephen turned it around with a couple of fantastic hoop-running shots against a very accurate Jim, eventually closing it 7-5. Congratulations Stephen we are proud that you’re the Mexico Champion.
