We are very pleased to announce that the 2018 9-Wicket National Championship will be held at the Chesapeake Bay Croquet Club on September 16 - 18. November 12-14.
It is not finalized yet but I think the entry fee will be a very affordable $125. USCA should be sending out an official announcement in the next day or two.
I know this is short notice but the committee had a previously planned venue fall through and this is the best we could do this year.
We will be having 1st and Championship flights with doubles and singles in both.
For those new to 9-wicket and those of us who just want a refresher, there will be a 9-wicket clinic on September 14 & 15 November 10-11. No charge!
This tournament will be played on long and very uniform grass with a few rolls in the lawn (not on our 6-wicket courts).
This is a really fun tournament and you do not have to be an old pro to have fun and do well in 9-wicket.
We will have at least 5 courts maybe 6.
Game length with 70 to 80 minutes (plus 2 time outs per side).
We will play by USCA 9-wicket rules with Optional rules #'s:
1 - deadness,
1b - clearing deadness,
2 - out of bounds,
3 - starting deadness @ first wicket,
4 - wired,
5 - blocking,
6 - rover play,
8 - last turns,
9 - ball in hand.
I can send you a synopsis of the 9-wicket rules if you ask me.
Games will start at 8:00 or 8:30 AM each day.
Championship may expect 4 to 5 games per day and other flights 3 to 4.
We will use the light (11oz) Pro-Balz and standard USCA wickets.
Sunday will be start with Doubles play.
Monday will be mostly Singles play.
Tuesday will be playoffs and finals in both.
Lunch will be provided on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and dinner on Monday night.
We will have practice and clinic days on September 14 & 15 with a competitors meeting on Saturday the 15th at 5pm.
